Kathleen on the Impact of Receiving a Lotus Award

“First, I would like to thank God for this blessing granted to my family and me.

Receiving the Lotus Award is a deeply humbling milestone that validates my dedication as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA).

In healthcare, the lotus flower is a beautiful symbol of resilience, empathy, and comfort. It perfectly reflects the daily commitment required to provide compassionate care to individuals during their most vulnerable moments.

This honor is not just a personal achievement; it recognizes the vital, often unseen work that goes into improving the quality of life for our patients.

Every day, my goal is to bring dignity, patience, and a comforting presence to those I serve. Knowing that my efforts have made a meaningful difference in their lives is the greatest reward. Receiving this award ignites an even deeper sense of responsibility within me to advocate for my patients and continuously elevate the standard of care I provide.

I am incredibly grateful to Brooklyn Hospital Center and The Lee Park Foundation, my colleagues and the families who trust me with their loved ones. This recognition inspires me to continue pushing through the physical and emotional challenges of caregiving with an open heart. Moving forward, I will carry this honor as a reminder that true healthcare begins with a dedicated heart, and I look forward to continuing my journey of making a positive impact on every life I touch."
